External Form:

• Occlusal outline form is centered over the grooves, smooth, and flowing
• Proper isthmus width
• Margins: Visually clear of contact ~0.2 mm
• Gingival floor: Clearance is ~0.5 mm
• Proximal box: Meets external surface at a 90 degree angle

Internal Form:

• Adequate pulpal floor depth (1.5-1.7 mm)
• B/L walls are convergent

*Slight adjacent tooth damage that can be polished without changing the contact

Areas Needing Improvement

External Form:

• Gingival margin of the proximal box is slightly friable
• Gingival floor width slightly deviated from ideal (<0.5 mm)

Refinement:

• Cavosurface margin is slightly friable
• Walls of preparation need smoothing

Occlusal Anatomy:

• Harmonious form of normal tooth anatomy
• Marginal ridge even with adjacent tooth

 Margins and Contacts:

• Proper distal contact and contour

Occlusal Surface:

• Needs more anatomy and definition
• Slight amount of debris and/or staining

Margins and Contacts:

• Interproximal contour is slightly over-contoured
• Mesial Contact: Floss shredding/tearing due to over-contoured, tight contact

• B/L walls: divergent
• Axial wall depth/floor width: proper depths with proper curvature

 *NO adjacent tooth damage.

• Proximal margins extended slightly beyond ideal measurements
•  Gingival floor depth is slightly >0.5 mm
• Proximal box: cavosurface isn’t met at a 90 degree angle

•  Lingual cavosurface margin is slightly friable
• Walls of the preparation could be smoother

 Strengths

 Occlusal Anatomy:

• Harmonious form of normal tooth anatomy
• Contact restored

Margins and Proximal Contacts:

•  Margins are of proper height and anatomy with no significant flash
• Proper contacts with no floss shredding/breaking

Areas Needing Improvement

• Occlusal anatomy could use more anatomical definition
• Sight deviation from normal proximal contour
•  Surface finish is slightly rough with minimal amalgam staining  

Operative Dentistry II Portfolio Details

This portfolio provides photographic displays as well as brief, self-evaluations of my second year operative practical exercises.  In doing so, I hope to document my progress as a dental student and my exceptional skills as a dental health care professional, which will later be presented to my prospective employers.
